Mangaluru: On December 25, Jagadguru Swastishree Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Panditacharya Mahaswamiji inaugurated the Savirakamba Basadi Laksha Deepotsava by lighting the ceremonial lamp, marking the beginning of a grand religious celebration. Apeksha Poornachandra also launched the Aparajita Shatka and Paramaaparanjyoti music, adding to the event’s spiritual depth.
In his address, Swamiji emphasized that the Deepotsava symbolizes the triumph of knowledge over ignorance and urged everyone to embrace wisdom and cultural development. His message of enlightenment resonated deeply with the audience.
The event honored several achievers, with the Dhavalatraya Jain Kashi Trust recognizing Sitar maestro Dr. Sumit Singh Padam, State Award recipient Rashmita Yuvraj, and astronaut researcher K Prakruti Pole, among others.
Distinguished guests included Patna Shetty, Sudesh Kumar, YMC Bank President Bahubali Prasad, and entrepreneur Purnachandra Jain. The event was compered by Soumyashri, the principal of Swastishree College, who kept the program engaging and lively.
The celebration began with devotional bhajans performed by local Jain women and children, followed by a tribute to the late tabla maestro Zakir Khan. Students from Swastishree Jain Residential PU College delivered a captivating dance performance, while Dr. Sumit Singh Padam enchanted the audience with a mesmerizing Sitar recital. His performance of Shyam Kalyan Raag and other classical pieces was a major highlight.
The night concluded with a collective singing of the Namokar Mantra and a stellar performance by young tabla artist Vignesh from Moodubidire. The event culminated with the Abhisheka of Bhagwan Chandra Prabhu Swami and the stunning Laksha Deepotsava.
