Mangaluru: The Department of Aeronautical Engineering at Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in association with ICARUS, IIC and IQAC, and in collaboration with ZenVed, organized a workshop titled “Drone Industry Ready: Skills, Careers & Future Opportunities” on 8th September 2026.
The workshop was led by Mr. Prashant S. Sattaragi, UAV Engineer, Co-founder of Vyuh Systems and former DRDO professional, and Mr. Gagan K., Co-founder of Vyuh Systems, who works on UAV flight hardware.
The sessions provided students with insights into how drones are built, how flight controllers work, UAV applications in industry, and career opportunities in the aerospace industry.
The event was graced by Dr. Manujesh B. J., Principal, SDIT, and Dr. Nethravathi P. S., Vice Principal, SDIT. Mr. Subhash Kashyap Jha, Principal Founder of ZenVed and alumnus of IIT Bombay and IIM Kozhikode, and Mr. Swaraj Rao, Co-founder of ZenVed and NITK alumnus, were also present as resource persons.
The sessions focused on UAV design, development, drone electronics, avionics, flight systems, UAV hardware and AI-based drones, along with real-world applications and industry requirements.
As part of the practical demonstration, the resource persons also conducted a live drone flight, giving students an opportunity to observe the operation and performance of a UAV in real time.
An interactive session allowed students to clarify their doubts and gain practical knowledge directly from experienced professionals.
The workshop witnessed active participation from students across different branches of engineering, providing them with an opportunity to explore the applications of drone technology beyond their respective fields.
The workshop provided valuable exposure to the practical and industrial aspects of drone technology, encouraging students to develop industry-relevant skills and explore career opportunities in the UAV and aerospace industry.
