The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has claimed that police have not arrested those responsible for instigating a communal clash in Boliyar. SDPI district president Anwar Sadath Bajathoor announced at the Ullal Press Club on Monday that SDPI will hold a protest march in front of the Konaje police station on Tuesday.
“While 15 Muslims were arrested, none of the Sangh Parivar leaders have been held yet. Only the Muslim community is targeted. Hence, we will hold a protest condemning this. Sangh Parivar activists had shouted provocative slogans in front of the masjid in Boliyar during the BJP’s vijayotsava on June 9. The BJP and Sangh Parivar celebrated vijayotsava with the aim of provoking a community. While none of those who made provocative moves are arrested, police have been conducting raids on the houses of members of the Muslim community,” Anwar alleged.
Criticizing chief minister Siddaramaiah, he stated that the Congress government, which secured a majority with Muslim votes, continues the administrative policies of the previous government led by Basavaraj Bommai. “The state government is working only to please the Sangh Parivar. Let the government stop targeting the Muslim community,” he said. SDPI state committee member Riyaz Kadambu added that those who supported Congress during the Lok Sabha election have also been jailed.
