On Saturday, Nelyapalke near Ajilamogaru in Maninalkooru village faced a destructive windstorm, resulting in significant damage to properties and homes. The incident, triggered by high velocity winds, inflicted havoc as it tore through the area.
Incessant rains preceded the storm, setting the stage for disaster early in the morning. Cement sheets, intended to shield a commercial building owned by local entrepreneur Khader Ikra, were mercilessly blown away and destroyed. The powerful gusts also scattered various plastic ware and clothing items in their path.
The calamity extended further as uprooted trees crashed onto the roofs of houses belonging to Abdul Khader and Younus, causing partial structural damage. Fortunately, the wind’s intensity subsided quickly, averting further catastrophe. The whirlwind near Ikra’s shop added to the chaos, capturing the attention of nearby residents who witnessed the flying debris.
Despite the severity of the storm, there were no reported injuries or fatalities, a stroke of luck considering the velocity and scale of the flying sheets and debris. Videos documenting the harrowing event underscored the ferocity of nature’s wrath in this small village.
