In a disturbing incident, Bantwal Rural police have arrested six individuals in connection with a violent assault on Mohammad Mustafa, 21, who was bound to a pole and beaten in Kanchinadkapadavu, Sajipanadu village, Ullal taluk. The suspects—Mohammad Sapwan (25), Mohammad Rizwan (25), Irfan (27), Anis Ahmad (19), Nasir (27), and Shakeer (18)—are all residents of the same village.
The attack took place on November 7 when Mustafa was called to a house by a distant female relative. Upon his arrival, the suspects confronted him, tied him to a pole with rope, and assaulted him while he was shirtless. Mustafa managed to file a complaint at the Bantwal Rural police station the following day.
As his injuries worsened, Mustafa was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. During his treatment, he revealed that the attackers had attempted to kill him, prompting additional charges of attempted murder. The police, led by further investigation, arrested the suspects and charged them with group assault and attempted murder.
All six suspects have been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
