Mangaluru: Officers of the Suratkal police station have identified six Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly working as labourers at a construction site within the police station limits. The police have initiated the process for further action by forwarding a report to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
The development comes as authorities continue to verify the status of foreign nationals residing and working in the district.
Six foreign nationals identified during verification
According to the police, six Bangladeshi nationals were found working as labourers at a construction site located within the jurisdiction of the Suratkal police station.
Following their identification, the police prepared a report detailing the findings and have forwarded it to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for further action.
The police have not disclosed additional details regarding the identity of the individuals, the construction site or the circumstances under which they were found.
FRRO to decide further course of action
Police said the FRRO will examine the report and issue the necessary orders regarding the six individuals.
As per the procedure, the FRRO is expected to direct their detention and initiate the legal process for deportation, if warranted under the applicable provisions governing foreign nationals in India.
The verification and deportation process will be carried out in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations after scrutiny by the competent authorities.
Investigation and verification continue
Officials have indicated that the matter is now before the FRRO, which is responsible for handling cases relating to foreign nationals, including verification of immigration status and deportation proceedings where applicable.
The Suratkal police have stated that they will extend all necessary assistance to the FRRO during the course of the proceedings.
