Bantwal: Vittal police have registered six separate cases against six persons following a complaint by a minor boy, who alleged that he was subjected to sexual assault on multiple occasions between February and August 2026.
The complaint was lodged on September 4 by the boy, a resident within the Vittal police station limits. Based on his allegations, police registered cases against six accused persons, identified as Jawad, Shahid, Riyaz alias Abdul Gafoor and three others.
Six cases registered under POCSO Act
According to the complaint, the alleged incidents took place between February and August this year. Following the complaint, Vittal police registered six cases under Crime Nos. 185/2026, 186/2026, 187/2026, 188/2026, 189/2026 and 190/2026.
The cases have been registered under Sections 4(2), 5(m), 6 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
The POCSO Act provides a legal framework for dealing with sexual offences against children and prescribes stringent provisions for such offences. As the matter involves allegations concerning a minor, the identity of the complainant has not been disclosed.
Three accused arrested
As part of the investigation, Vittal police arrested three of the accused persons identified as Jawad, Shahid and Riyaz alias Abdul Gafoor.
The arrested accused were subsequently produced before the court. Following the hearing, the court remanded all three to judicial custody.
Police are continuing their investigation into the allegations against the six accused persons. Further details regarding the circumstances of the alleged offences and the status of the remaining accused were not immediately available.
