A young music student from Abu Dhabi captured hearts with her melodious singing during a church service recently. Sancia Ruth Tauro, just 6.8 years old, delivered a beautiful rendition of a Konkani psalm at St. Paul’s Church Musaffah, impressing the congregation with her confidence and musical ability.

The young singer is currently undergoing training in Carnatic music, one of India’s classical music traditions, and has already begun to show remarkable promise at a very early age.

A promising young talent

Sancia joined vocal training classes when she was exactly six years old. Initially, her teacher expressed some concern about whether such a young student would be able to grasp the technical exercises involved in Carnatic classical music.

However, Sancia quickly proved her dedication and talent. According to her teacher, she showed consistent improvement with practice and surprised everyone with her clear voice, discipline and ability to learn complex vocal exercises.

Her performance of the Konkani psalm at the church highlighted both her musical growth and confidence.

Preparing for Carnatic pre-grade exams

Sancia is now preparing to appear for her Pre-Grade examinations in Carnatic classical vocals, marking an important milestone in her musical journey.

Her teacher noted that despite her young age, Sancia approaches music with seriousness and enthusiasm, qualities that are essential for classical training.

Support from family

Behind Sancia’s progress is strong support from her parents, who have played an important role in encouraging her musical development.

They regularly accompany her during practice sessions and patiently guide her, ensuring she stays motivated and focused.

A bright musical future ahead

Teachers and well-wishers believe Sancia has a promising future in music if she continues to nurture her talent with dedication and discipline.

Her recent performance at St. Paul’s Church has already inspired admiration among the local community and highlighted the importance of encouraging young talent in music.

As she prepares for her upcoming examinations, many hope that Sancia will continue to receive opportunities to share her gift of music and grow into a confident performer.
