Mangaluru: The Department of Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) at St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, in collaboration with the Library and Learning Group and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), hosted a Two-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Innovation and Excellence in Teaching Practices” on August 9th and 10th, 2024, in Spoorthi Hall.

The inaugural ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the nurturing of values. Dr. Hareesh B, Associate Professor and Head of the MCA Department at SJEC, warmly welcomed all dignitaries and participants to what promised to be a productive and inspiring event.

Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC, served as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the importance of integrating innovation and striving for excellence in teaching practices. His insights underscored how modern educational techniques and creative approaches can significantly enhance the learning experience.

Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC, delivered the presidential address, stressing the crucial role educators play in adopting innovative teaching methods and fostering an environment that encourages continuous improvement and excellence.

The event was also graced by the Vice Principal and HR Manager, who contributed their valuable presence and support to the program’s goals.

The FDP saw participation from around 50 faculty members, including participants from various engineering colleges, who came together to explore and discuss innovative teaching practices. This diverse representation highlighted a collective commitment to advancing pedagogical methods and enhancing educational outcomes.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Pavana Kumara B, Head of IQAC and Convenor of the FDP. He expressed profound gratitude to the dignitaries for their inspirational contributions, to the participants for their enthusiastic engagement, and to the organizers for their meticulous efforts. The vote of thanks encapsulated the program’s core message of fostering innovation and excellence in teaching, aiming to inspire a more enlightened and compassionate future for education.
