Mangaluru: Assembly Speaker UT Khader provided crucial assistance to a poor family struggling to transport the body of 33-year-old Vidya Vikram Ambig from a private hospital in Deralakatte to their native village in Karwar, Uttara Kannada district. Khader also ensured the hospital returned the money the family had paid.
Vidya, daughter of Govinda T Sali from Bavali village in Karwar, had been receiving treatment for a severe health issue but unfortunately passed away on Thursday. Govinda, who works as cleaning staff at the KSRP camp near Konaje, was unable to arrange transport for his daughter’s body. Konaje gram panchayat member Nazar Pattori alerted Khader to the family’s plight and sought his help.
Khader, the MLA of the constituency, swiftly arranged for Vidya’s body to be transported in an ambulance provided by Nammoora Dhwani, a charitable forum in Harekala supported by Khader. Additionally, Khader consoled the grieving family and promised further assistance. He made arrangements for Vidya’s last rites to be conducted in their village.
Govinda, who has been unable to work due to ill health for the past five years, lives in a small rented house in Nadupadavu, Konaje, with his four daughters, Vidya’s husband, and their two children. The family expressed their gratitude for the timely support provided by Khader and the community.
