Mangaluru: The Pili Gobbu & Eatathon Food Fest 2025 was inaugurated on 15 November 2025 at 10:30 a.m. on the campus of St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute (SAITI), bringing together students, alumni, staff, and guests for a vibrant day of culture, creativity, and culinary experiences.

Inauguration and dignitaries

Entrepreneur Mr Prakash Kumpala and Mr Santhosh Benkya, Coastalwood singer, anchor, and journalist, graced the occasion as Chief Guests.
The Guests of Honour included:

  • Mr Dheeraj Neermarga, Comedy Actor & SAITI alumnus
  • Mr Dhinesh Nooji, Entrepreneur
  • Lion Rajesh Kamath, President, Lions Club Mangaluru
  • Mr Romius Dsouza, Alumnus, SAITI
  • Mr Bhavish Poojary, Alumnus, SAITI

The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr John D’Souza SJ, Director. Mr Roshan Dsouza, Principal; Mr Alwyn Menezes, Vice Principal; Training Officers Mr Noel Lobo and Mr Wilson N; conveners Mr Naveen, Ms Vanditha Rego, and Mr Shreyas; and Student Council President Mr Rivan Dsouza were present along with staff, parents, and students.

The event opened with a prayer song by Electronics Mechanic students, followed by a warm welcome from convener Mr Shreyas. The Chief Guests inaugurated the fest by unveiling the poster displayed on stage.

Felicitation and Children’s Day celebrations

Chief Guest Mr Prakash Kumpala was felicitated during the ceremony. In celebration of Children’s Day, various games were organised, and Mrs Padmavathi, JTO, led the prize distribution.
SAITI alumnus Mr Bhavish Poojary was also honoured for his achievements.

Inspirational messages from the guests

In his address, Mr Prakash Kumpala praised SAITI’s commitment to inclusive education:
“I appreciate that even SSLC-failed students are given a second chance here with proper guidance. Education is the foundation of success, and every student deserves an opportunity to grow.”

He strongly advised students to avoid substance abuse and focus on building disciplined, value-based lives.

Co-Chief Guest Mr Santhosh Benkya encouraged students to persevere:
“You may fail in a subject, but you are not failing in life. Treat setbacks as challenges, and you will surely succeed.”

Alumnus Mr Dheeraj Neermarga shared his pride in returning to his alma mater:
“I was not a topper, but this institution gave me opportunities and confidence. Whatever I am today is because of SAITI.”

Pili Gobbu performance and food fest activities

A lively Pili Gobbu performance by SAITI students enthralled the audience, followed by the Eatathon Food Fest, which featured:

  • Game stalls
  • Food stalls and mocktails
  • Handmade accessories and ornaments crafted by students
  • Entertainment and interactive activities

The fest created a vibrant atmosphere where students showcased their skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Convener Ms Vanditha Rego delivered the vote of thanks, and the event was compered by Mr Shreyas.
