Mangaluru: The Department of Social Work, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) will be organizing 2-day National Seminar titled ‘Promoting Health and Well-being in a Changing World: Emerging Challenges & Sustainable Responses’ on 16 & 17 September 2026 at Eric Mathias Hall, Maffei Block of the University.

The Chief Guest for the Inaugural Programme will be Dr M Vijayakumar, Pro Chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Director & CEO, Zulekha Yenepoya Institute of Oncology and the Chief Guest for theValedictory Programme will be Dr Roopashree Shenoy, Physiologist & Educator, Founder Paper Rocket Books, Mangaluru.

Following are the sessions and Resource Persons of the seminar:

Session I on the topic: “Health and Well-being in a Changing World: From Emerging Challenges to Sustainable Responses” by Dr Sudhir Prabhu, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine, Fr Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru

Session II on the topic: “Climate Change, Environmental Risks and Human Health” by Dr Shaiesh Morajkar,Post-doctoral Research Fellow, Centre for Omics & Systems Medicine, K S Hegde Medical Academy, NITTE University, Mangalore.

Session III on the topic: “Behaviour Change and Community Engagement for Environmental Health” by Dr Smitha Hegde, Principal & Director Research, Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangaluru

Session IV on the topic:“Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing: Addressing risks & preventing Suicide” by Dr Anish V Cherian,Additional Professor, Department of Psychiatric Social work, NIMHANS, Bengaluru

Apart from the above sessions, concurrent paper presentations by researchers on the different sub themes of the seminar will also be held on 17 September, both online and offline mode.
