Mangaluru: St Joseph’s Interdiocesan Seminary, Jeppu, Mangaluru, has commenced its Theology for the Laity and Religious 2026–2027 programme, offering the faithful an opportunity to deepen their understanding of faith, Scripture and theology.

The programme, organised under the theme ‘Walking Together in Faith, Scripture, and Theology’, is being conducted from August 10 to 14, with sessions scheduled from 5.45 pm to 7.15 pm.

Theology of the human person

The opening programme focuses on ‘Created and Called: Theology of the Human Person (Christian Anthropology)’.

The sessions are being conducted in English and Konkani, with Rev. Praveen Joy Saldanha serving as the resource person.

The programme seeks to help participants reflect more deeply on the Christian understanding of the human person, faith and vocation through theological learning.

Special lecture on faith and AI

A special lecture titled ‘Dignity of the Human Person in the Age of AI’ is scheduled for August 12 from 5.45 pm to 7.15 pm.

The lecture, inspired by the theme Magnifica humanitas associated with Pope Leo XIV, will be conducted by Rev. Flavian Lobo in English and Konkani.

The session is particularly relevant at a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing education, work, communication and everyday life, raising important questions about human dignity and responsibility.

Walking together in faith and learning

Through the 2026–2027 programme, St Joseph’s Interdiocesan Seminary is providing a space for laity and religious to engage with theological themes and strengthen their understanding of Christian faith.

The initiative reflects the seminary’s emphasis on faith formation and continuing theological learning, while encouraging participants to connect their spiritual lives with contemporary realities.

The programme brings together theology, Scripture and reflection in an effort to help participants deepen their faith and live it more meaningfully in today’s world.
