Dubai: St Mary’s Mangalorean Community (SMMC), a well-known Mangalorean Konkani organization affiliated with St Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai, has announced its new office bearers for the term 2024-2026. The announcement was made by Fr. Victor Fernandes OFM Cap, Spiritual Director of SMMC, during the Konkani mass in April 2024.
Joseph Mathias has been elected as the new coordinator, succeeding Jeevan Vaz, who served as coordinator for the previous two years (2022-2024). Fr. Victor expressed gratitude to the outgoing committee for their dedicated service in supporting the Konkani community and extended his blessings to the new core committee members, encouraging them to continue fostering unity and serving the church community with passion.

The SMMC’s new core team, under the leadership and guidance of spiritual director Fr. Victor, is enthusiastic about planning and organizing several activities and projects to elevate spiritual fortitude and render social benefits to the Mangalorean Community of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubai.
As an initial significant event for this year, SMMC’s core team has planned a grand celebration of a 9-day novena for the popular Mangalorean feast of Mother Mary, ‘Monti Fest’. Monti Fest will be celebrated on Friday, September 6th at 8 PM with a brass band procession, flower veneration to Mother Mary, a feast High Mass, and thereafter, Novem Jevann.
