Puttur: St Philomena College (Autonomous) celebrated the 76th Republic Day with enthusiasm on January 26. The event, held at the college premises, featured the unfurling of the National Flag by Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal of St Philomena PU College, followed by the National Anthem sung by the Cultural Association students.

Address by the Chief Guest

Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar, Vice Principal of St Philomena College and the Chief Guest, highlighted the significance of Republic Day. He spoke about the adoption of the Indian Constitution, which marked India’s transformation into a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. Dr Moleyar honoured the sacrifices of those who contributed to India’s independence and called on the audience to work towards a unified and progressive nation.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries such as Dr Norbert Mascarenhas (Registrar – Academics), Prof. Vinay Chandra (Registrar – Evaluation), and Dr Malini K. (IQAC Coordinator). NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, staff, and students also participated, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
