In a heartbreaking incident on Wednesday, an 18-year-old student, Tejas, from Kandavara village, Mangaluru, tragically lost his life after being thrown from a moving private bus. Tejas was on his way to Nitte College, standing at the rear of the bus, when the incident occurred.
The tragedy unfolded around 8:55 am as the bus neared a speed bump close to Nitte College in Nitte village. The driver, allegedly speeding and driving negligently, suddenly applied the brakes, causing Janith, a 20-year-old student from Mala village who had boarded the bus from the front door, to be thrown out onto the road. Janith sustained serious injuries to his waist. Despite receiving initial treatment at a hospital in Nitte, he was later referred to a hospital in Manipal. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries while en route.
A case has been registered at the Karkala Rural police station, and investigations are ongoing.
