Sullia: Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya escaped unhurt after the Innova car in which she was travelling met with an accident near Muchila on the Karikkala–Nintikallu road on Tuesday. The accident occurred when the vehicle ahead of the MLA’s car reportedly applied sudden brakes, resulting in a collision.

The incident took place near Muchila in Kalmadka village, along the road connecting Karikkala and Nintikallu. Despite the impact, the MLA was not injured. The front portion of the Innova was damaged in the collision.

Vehicle ahead applies sudden brakes

According to reports, the vehicle carrying Bhagirathi Murulya was travelling along the Karikkala–Nintikallu road when the car ahead suddenly applied the brakes near Muchila.

The Innova, which was following the vehicle, could not stop in time and collided with its rear portion. The impact caused considerable damage to the front section of the Innova.

The MLA escaped the accident without sustaining injuries. Other reports also stated that the occupants of the vehicles were safe following the collision.

MLA escapes without injuries

The accident caused concern because Bhagirathi Murulya, who represents the Sullia Assembly constituency, was travelling in the vehicle at the time.

However, there were no reports of any injuries to the MLA. A report from The Sullia Mirror stated that the MLA, her driver and personal assistant escaped without injuries and that she later travelled home in another vehicle.

The incident therefore ended without any serious consequences for those travelling in the vehicle.

Accident causes damage to Innova

While there were no reported injuries, the Innova suffered damage to its front portion following the collision.

The incident was attributed to the sudden braking of the vehicle travelling ahead. Reports did not indicate any major disruption to traffic following the accident.

A separate report by The Times of India said the incident occurred at Muchila in Kalmadka village while the MLA was travelling from Panja towards Nintikallu. It also reported that the matter was settled amicably between the parties and that no case was registered in connection with the incident.

Incident raises road safety concerns

The accident once again highlights the risks faced by motorists on busy and winding roads in the Sullia region. Sudden braking, inadequate stopping distance and unexpected movement of vehicles can result in rear-end collisions, particularly on stretches where visibility may be limited.

Drivers are generally required to maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead so that they have sufficient time to respond to sudden braking or changes in traffic movement.

In this case, the collision caused vehicle damage but fortunately did not result in injuries.

MLA safe after accident

Bhagirathi Murulya has escaped the incident without injury, bringing relief to her supporters and local residents.

The accident was limited to vehicle damage, with reports confirming that the MLA and others travelling with her were safe. The incident occurred during her travel on the Karikkala–Nintikallu stretch near Muchila.

The safe escape of the Sullia MLA ensured that the accident did not result in a more serious incident. Authorities and motorists are likely to remain mindful of road safety measures, particularly on local stretches where sudden braking and close following can lead to accidents.
