Sullia: Sullia police have arrested a warrant accused who had allegedly been absconding for about a year to evade court appearances.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ashraf, a resident of Kasaragod, Kerala. He was wanted in connection with a case registered at Sullia police station under Crime No. 252/2014.

The case was registered under Sections 399 and 402 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Accused apprehended after remaining absconding

Ashraf had reportedly been evading court proceedings for around a year. Acting on information about his whereabouts, Sullia police traced and apprehended him.

The operation was carried out by Sullia police station personnel, including Head Constable Raju Naik and Police Constable Santhosh.

Police subsequently produced the accused before the court following his arrest.

Court remands accused to judicial custody

After hearing the matter, the court remanded Ashraf to judicial custody.

The arrest forms part of efforts by Sullia police to trace accused persons against whom warrants have been issued and ensure their appearance before the court.
