The Karnataka Vedike of Bengaluru has revealed the recipients of the prestigious Swabhimani Book Award 2023, recognizing outstanding literary contributions. Among the six honored individuals is youth writer Fathima Ralia, who has been lauded for her noteworthy work.

Additionally, two individuals have been selected for the esteemed Dr C Somashekhar and Sarvamangala Endowment awards. The presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 31 in Bengaluru, where the awardees will be felicitated.

Award-Winning Works

The coveted award acknowledges exceptional literary works, including the translated book “Nammantha Ballidaravaru” by Dr H S M Prakash, Prof H T Pothe’s travel story “Baba Sahebara London Maneyalli,” Fathima Ralia’s compilation of stories “Odeyalarada Odapu,” and Santhosh Nayaka’s poetry compilation “Hosa Vilasada Hejjegalu.”

Furthermore, the Dr C Somashekar and Sarvamanagala Endowment awards have been bestowed upon Indira Krishnappa for her biography “Savitri Bapule” and Dr M S Mani for his compilation of prose “Gavi Marga.”

Recognition and Rewards

Each award recipient will receive a cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with a citation in acknowledgment of their literary accomplishments. The adjudicators for the awards include H L Pushpa, president of the Karnataka Women Writers’ Association, along with esteemed writers Dwaranakunte Patanna and Dr Satyamangala Mahadeva.
