Mangaluru: Vertex Workspace hosted ‘Techwaves 2025: Rise of the Silicon Beach of India’ at Vertex Five, Kadri, showcasing the city’s transformation into a burgeoning tech hub. The event united innovators, tech experts, and policymakers in a dynamic dialogue about Mangaluru’s future in the global technology landscape.
Four impactful panel discussions took centre stage, each addressing crucial aspects of Mangaluru’s tech-driven evolution. The first panel explored the rise of Global Capability Centres (GCCs), highlighting Mangaluru’s emergence as a competitive player in this sector. KEONICS Chairman and MLA Sharath Kumar Bache Gowda emphasized talent over infrastructure, announcing plans for a 4-lakh sq ft IT complex modeled after Bengaluru’s Electronic City.
The deep tech segment focused on Mangaluru’s growing capabilities in AI, IoT, and digital health. With a robust engineering base, the city is positioning itself as a deep tech nucleus. The session was led by innovation-focused industry heads and academic leaders.
The third panel addressed Mangaluru’s rise in IT services, with MP Capt Brijesh Chowta urging the creation of locally founded deep tech firms. He called for leveraging central government projects and global Mangalurean networks through his “Back to Ooru” campaign.
The final session highlighted the need for world-class infrastructure to attract talent and enable growth. The day concluded with an awards ceremony, honouring key contributors like Koki Kato, Takashi Miyasaka, Jagath Biddappa, and Navajith Karkera for their role in elevating Mangaluru’s innovation ecosystem.
