Mangaluru, Jun 2: Residents of Surathkal and surrounding areas will experience a temporary disruption in their drinking water supply due to maintenance work on a crucial water pipeline. The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) relies on the Thumbay dam for the city’s water supply, but a 900 MM diameter pipe that pumps water to the Panambur area requires urgent repairs.
The maintenance work, scheduled from Kottara Chowki to Goldfinch grounds, will result in no drinking water supply from 6 am on Monday, June 3, until 6 am on Tuesday, June 4, as announced by the MCC.
Affected areas include Surathkal, Katipalla, NITK, MCF, Kapikad, Kulur, Jalligudde, parts of Kavoor, parts of Kodikal, Pacchanady, Ashoknagara, Derebail, Kulai, Mukka, and Panambur. Residents are advised to make necessary arrangements for their water needs during this period. The MCC emphasized that this maintenance work is essential to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of the water supply system.
