Mangaluru: In the early hours of Sunday, a family in Mahatma Nagar, Baginangadi, thwarted a burglary attempt. The thieves had removed the main gate and were attempting to break down the door when the family switched on the lights, scaring them away. The incident was reported to the police and neighbors.
On Saturday night, four individuals attempted to rob the Prasanna Ganapati temple in Perlaguri, Baganangady. Alert neighbors noticed the light from the thieves’ torches and switched on their outdoor lights, causing the thieves to flee. The incident was captured on CCTV.
Both cases are under investigation by the Kavur police. These incidents follow recent arrests of thieves involved in similar crimes in Chaddigang and another group that stole gold jewelry from a house. Despite the arrests, another gang seems to be active in the city, exploiting the continuous rain.
