Three Arrested in Connection with Four-Year-Old Dacoity Case in Kalmanja

Belthangady: Police have arrested three persons in connection with a four-year-old dacoity case reported from Kalmanja.

Those arrested are Nawaz (38), Riyaz of Mundaje, and Krishna. The theft had taken place in the house of areca grower Achyutha Bhat. The thieves had barged into the house, tied down the inmates, and robbed jewellery.

Police have recovered 104 grams of jewellery, 288 grams of silver items, a bike, and Rs. 25,000 in cash from them.

The incident occurred on June 6, 2020. It is learned that the accused used to sell the stolen jewellery in small portions. Recently, upon gathering hints that Riyaz was trying to sell unaccounted cash, the police zeroed in on him. Upon interrogation, their involvement in the dacoity case came to light.
