Sullia: The Sullia Police have arrested three members of a woman’s in-laws’ family in connection with a case registered following her death. The accused, including the deceased’s uncle-in-law, aunt-in-law and sister-in-law, were taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the case registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police said the arrests were made on Wednesday, July 22, in connection with Crime No. 100/2026, registered at the Sullia Police Station under Sections 85, 103(1) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The investigation is continuing, and officials are examining the circumstances that led to the woman’s death.
Three relatives taken into custody
The arrested persons have been identified as C.P. Alavi (54), the deceased woman’s uncle-in-law, Ayesha C.A., her aunt-in-law, and Fasilah C.A. (29), her sister-in-law.
According to the police, all three accused were arrested following the investigation conducted by the Sullia Police. They are currently being questioned to ascertain their alleged involvement in the case and to gather further evidence.
Officials have not disclosed additional details regarding the investigation, stating that the probe is still at a crucial stage.
Case registered under BNS provisions
The case has been registered under Sections 85, 103(1) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police said the investigation is being carried out in accordance with the relevant legal provisions, and all available evidence is being examined. Statements of witnesses and other material connected to the case are also being scrutinised as part of the inquiry.
Investigators are working to establish the sequence of events and determine the role of each accused in connection with the woman’s death.
Legal proceedings underway
According to the police, the arrested accused will be produced before the jurisdictional court after the completion of the necessary legal formalities.
Officials said further investigation is in progress and additional action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the course of the probe.
The Sullia Police have not ruled out further developments in the case as the investigation continues. They stated that all aspects of the incident are being thoroughly examined to ensure a fair and comprehensive inquiry.
