Bantwal: A three-vehicle collision was reported near Bhandaribettu in Bantwal on Friday after motorists slowed down to give way to an ambulance responding to an emergency. No fatalities were reported, though a few occupants sustained minor injuries in the mishap.
The accident involved a pickup vehicle, a car and a bus. All three vehicles sustained damage in the collision, which temporarily disrupted traffic on the stretch before normal movement was restored.
Chain collision near Bhandaribettu
According to preliminary information, the drivers of a pickup vehicle and a car travelling ahead reduced their speed and moved towards the side of the road to allow an ambulance, which was proceeding with its siren on, to pass safely.
At the same time, a bus approaching from behind reportedly went out of the driver’s control and rammed into the rear of the car.
The force of the impact pushed the car into the pickup vehicle ahead, resulting in a chain collision involving all three vehicles.
Minor injuries reported
Although the crash caused considerable damage to the vehicles, no deaths were reported.
A few occupants sustained minor injuries in the accident and were provided necessary assistance. The extent of the injuries has not been officially disclosed.
The ambulance, which was responding to an emergency, was reportedly able to continue its journey after the incident.
Traffic affected temporarily
The accident led to traffic congestion near Bhandaribettu for some time as damaged vehicles blocked part of the roadway.
Motorists experienced delays until the vehicles were cleared and normal traffic movement resumed.
