Mangaluru: Vittal Police have arrested three individuals for allegedly stealing cash from roadside donation boxes placed near places of worship in Kanyana village, Bantwal taluk.

The arrested youths have been identified as Twaheed (19), Ummar Farooq (18), and Mohammad Nabeel (18)—all residents of Vittal Kasaba village in Bantwal.

The complaint was filed by D. Narayana Rao (72), president of a religious centre and resident of Delantabettu in Kanyana. According to Rao, two donation boxes—one placed near Delantabettu School and another near Delantabettu Church—were found with their locks broken when he arrived to collect funds on July 26.

An estimated ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 in donations had been stolen from the boxes. Acting promptly on the complaint, Vittal Police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation.

The trio was apprehended within the Vittal police station limits, and further legal proceedings are underway.
