A tragic incident occurred at Ullal beach where four women tourists from Andhra Pradesh were swept away by waves. While three women were rescued by locals, one, identified as Parimi Ratna Kumari (57), drowned. Ratna Kumari was the wife of P L Prasanna and a native of Sirilingapalli in Kondapura, Andhra Pradesh.

The incident happened when the women were playing in the water and a huge wave struck them, pulling them into the sea. Locals immediately responded, rescuing all four women from the water. However, Ratna Kumari was found unconscious and was rushed to Deralakatte hospital, where she later succumbed.

The group of five women had an extensive travel itinerary. They flew from Hyderabad to Mysuru on June 6. After sightseeing in Mysuru, they reached Kodagu in an Innova car on June 7. On June 9, they visited Subramanya temple, and on June 10, they took darshan of Lord Manjunatha in Dharmasthala before arriving at Ullal beach.

The incident highlights the unpredictable nature of the sea and the importance of caution while engaging in beach activities. The local community’s prompt response in rescuing the women is commendable, but the tragic loss of Ratna Kumari casts a shadow over the group’s tour.
