Mangaluru – A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Mangaluru as a 10-month-old baby boy, Anish Kumar, tragically lost his life after reportedly ingesting a used beedi discarded inside the house.

According to a police complaint filed by Lakshmidevi, the child’s mother and a native of Bihar now living in Mangaluru, the incident occurred while her husband was away working in the wedding decoration sector. The infant was playing at home when he accidentally swallowed the leftover beedi.

Upon noticing signs of illness in the baby, Lakshmidevi immediately contacted her husband, and together they rushed Anish to Wenlock District Hospital. Despite prompt medical attention, doctors were unable to save the child, who passed away on Sunday.

Lakshmidevi stated that she had warned her husband multiple times not to throw used beedis inside their home, fearing exactly such a tragedy. She believes his negligence led to the untimely death of their son.

The Mangaluru Rural Police Station has registered a case and begun further investigation.
