Mangaluru: A labourer lost his life after falling from the third floor of the hydrocracker plant within Surathkal police station limits on Tuesday. The deceased, Mangra Oroan, 38, hailed from the Ranchi district of Jharkhand state. He had been employed as a fitter with JC Engineering Company for the past ten years.
City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal stated that Mangra reported for duty on Monday for the 9pm shift. Unfortunately, on Tuesday around 2:15 am, while working at the hydrocracker plant, he fell from the third floor. Despite immediate medical attention at a private hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A case has been registered at Surathkal police station against JC Engineering Company, the safety officer of MRPL, and Sainath, the supervisor of the site working with JC Engineering. Meanwhile, DYFI president Muneer Katipalla condemned the incident and sought appropriate action against MRPL and compensation for the kin of the victim.
