A devastating accident on the Kuntikana flyover, linking Mangaluru and Kottara, resulted in the death of an 18-year-old and left another injured. The mishap occurred when a bike and a lorry collided around 4:10 pm.

The victim, Mohamed Jasim, a resident of Melkar near B C Road, lost his life in the incident. The Pulsar bike (KA 19 HM 6972), ridden by Sahir Sulaiman (20), also from Melkar, had Jasim as the pillion passenger.

Both the bike and the lorry (KA 20 AB 9852), driven by Ajesh B Nayar from Kottayam, Kerala, were reportedly traveling in the same direction when the lorry’s front right side hit the bike. The impact caused the motorcycle to skid towards the left side of the road, tragically resulting in Jasim being run over by the lorry’s rear right wheel.

Sulaiman, who sustained injuries, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Preliminary reports suggest the accident may have occurred during an overtaking attempt. Kadri traffic police quickly responded to the scene and have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

This tragic accident has raised concerns about safety on the Kuntikana flyover, particularly regarding overtaking maneuvers.
