Bantwal: In a heartbreaking road accident, a young man lost his life while driving a recently purchased second-hand car. The fatal crash occurred near Lower Thumbay on the highway, as the vehicle lost control and overturned.
The deceased has been identified as Naufal, a resident of Harekala Pavoor. He had reportedly bought a pre-owned vehicle from BC Road and was taking it towards Thumbay along the national highway when the accident took place.
As per eyewitness accounts, the car suddenly veered off course, climbed over the road divider near Lower Thumbay, and flipped over onto the opposite lane.
Tragically, as the overturned car landed on the opposite side, a container lorry approaching from the Mangaluru side struck the vehicle, causing critical injuries to the driver. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Naufal succumbed to his injuries en route, as confirmed by medical personnel.
The Bantwal Traffic Police visited the accident site, took stock of the situation, and have formally registered a case in connection with the incident.
This accident serves as a sobering reminder of the risks involved in operating unfamiliar or recently purchased vehicles, especially on high-speed highways.
