Mangaluru: A trailer truck came to a halt across the National Highway opposite Panambur Beach on Monday, causing a major traffic jam on the stretch from Baikampady towards Kulur.
The stalled heavy vehicle reportedly obstructed the carriageway, resulting in a long queue of vehicles and bringing traffic movement to a crawl.
Traffic police work to clear vehicle
Traffic police personnel have been working to remove the stalled trailer and restore normal movement on the busy highway stretch.
Meanwhile, commuters travelling between Baikampady and Kulur have been left stranded on the road for an extended period. A line of vehicles stretching for several kilometres has reportedly formed, causing considerable inconvenience to motorists and passengers.
The congestion has particularly affected those travelling through the industrial and port-connected corridor, where the movement of heavy vehicles is already frequent.
Commuters face prolonged delay
Passengers caught in the traffic jam have reportedly been forced to remain on the road as authorities work to clear the obstruction.

Motorists travelling towards Kulur from Baikampady are advised to expect delays until the stalled trailer is removed and traffic flow returns to normal.
