Mangaluru: Ullal police have taken two men into custody on charges of misbehaving with a woman constable during the Mosarukudike Utsava celebrations of Sri Krishna Janmashtami at Thokkottu on Saturday night. The arrested individuals have been identified as Deepak and Kiran.
As per police reports, a massive crowd had gathered at Olapete to witness the festive procession. While the women police personnel were managing the crowd, they instructed a group of youngsters who were dancing to step back and maintain order.
Instead of cooperating, the accused allegedly acted in an unruly manner. They are reported to have behaved indecently and made an attempt to outrage the modesty of a woman constable who was on duty at the event.
Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged, and the Ullal police promptly registered a case against the duo. Both accused were arrested the same night and further investigations are in progress.
The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of officers, especially women personnel, during public events and festivals.
