Mangaluru police arrested two men, Bharat alias Yakshith (24) and Dinesh Kurthamogeru (20), for throwing stones at the residence of MLC Ivan D’Souza on August 21. The act was allegedly driven by anger over statements made by D’Souza during a protest against the Governor’s sanction for prosecuting Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.
Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at the Mangaluru South police station, and a special investigation team led by ACP Central was formed to apprehend the culprits. The team meticulously reviewed CCTV footage, verified vehicle details, and gathered eyewitness accounts to trace the suspects. Bharat and Dinesh, who admitted to impulsively pelting stones after dining at a local hotel, were soon apprehended.
Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal confirmed their confession and stated that further investigations, including the verification of their movements through CCTV footage and mobile records, corroborated their involvement. Bharat, from Bolantoor in Bantwal, works as a driver and has three prior assault cases. Dinesh, from Kolnady in Bantwal, worked at a private finance firm and also has an assault record. The investigation is ongoing, with further legal actions being considered.
