Mangaluru: Two migrant workers were seriously injured after allegedly falling from the second floor of an under-construction five-storey building at Kotekar Beeri in Ullal on Thursday afternoon.
The injured workers have been identified as Shakir, 32, and Haider, 33, both natives of Delhi. The incident occurred while the two were engaged in construction work at the building.
Workers fall from second floor
According to preliminary information, Shakir and Haider were working on the second floor of the under-construction building when they accidentally fell while carrying out their duties.
The circumstances leading to the fall are being examined. The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at construction sites, particularly for workers engaged in work at considerable heights.
Both workers sustained serious injuries in the fall. Fellow workers and others at the site reportedly arranged for immediate medical assistance following the incident.
Shakir reportedly in critical condition
The injured workers were shifted to a private hospital in Deralakatte soon after the incident.
Shakir, 32, is reportedly in critical condition and continues to receive treatment at the hospital. Haider, 33, also sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.
The exact nature and extent of their injuries have not been disclosed. Medical personnel are monitoring both workers following the incident.
Ullal police inspect the spot
Following the incident, Ullal police visited the construction site and conducted an inspection.
A complaint has been registered in connection with the incident, and police have begun an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fall.
