Puttur: Uppinangady police have filed a charge sheet against a man from Beltangady for allegedly harassing a young woman and trespassing into her property while carrying a sword.

The accused has been identified as Sheshagiri, a resident of Tekkaru in Beltangady.

Accused allegedly harassed young woman

According to the police, Sheshagiri obtained the mobile phone number of the complainant’s daughter and remained in regular contact with her. He allegedly harassed the young woman and repeatedly pressured her to marry him.

The alleged harassment continued over a period of time, according to the complaint. The situation later escalated into a more serious incident involving alleged trespassing and possession of a weapon.

Sword-wielding trespass alleged

The incident reportedly took place late at night on November 29, 2025. Police said the accused allegedly entered the cowshed located near the complainant’s residence while carrying a sword.

Following the incident, the young woman’s mother approached the Uppinangady police and lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, Uppinangady police registered a case on November 30, 2025, under Crime No. 112/2025.

The case was registered under Sections 78(1)(i), 329(3) and 329(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Police complete investigation

Uppinangady police subsequently conducted an investigation into the allegations, including the circumstances surrounding the alleged harassment and the late-night trespassing incident.

After completing the investigation, police submitted the final report, or charge sheet, before the court on February 25, 2026.

The matter is currently before the court and is under trial. The allegations against the accused remain subject to judicial determination.
