Puttur: In a prompt crackdown, Uppinangady police arrested a 31-year-old chain-snatching accused and recovered stolen property worth ₹5.05 lakh, including gold ornaments and a stolen motorcycle.
The arrested has been identified as Abdul Rehman, a resident of Aletty in Sullia.
The incident occurred on June 4 at Nellyadi, Padubettu, under Uppinangady police limits, when two men on a bike snatched a gold chain from a woman. Following the complaint, police traced and apprehended Abdul Rehman at Nekkiladi, Puttur.
From him, officers recovered a gold chain valued at ₹4.54 lakh and a Pulsar motorcycle used during the crime. Further checks revealed that the bike had earlier been reported stolen in a case registered at Vijayanagar police station, Mysuru.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of DySP Arun Nagegowda (Puttur subdivision) and led by Uppinangady Circle Inspector Ravi B.S. along with station personnel.
