District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Thimmayya has emphasized the importance of addressing mosquito breeding sites as the monsoon season increases the risk of dengue fever. He noted that district health officials have been actively identifying and eliminating larval breeding spots to combat the spread of the disease.

Currently, Dakshina Kannada reports 365 active dengue cases: 167 within Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) limits, 70 in Mangaluru Rural, 81 in Bantwal, 32 in Beltangady, 12 in Puttur, and 3 in Sullia. To tackle this, every Friday is designated as a “dry day” to focus on cleaning and drying household premises to prevent dengue. Dr. Thimmayya advised residents to avoid water stagnation, particularly on terraces and under flower pots.

For anyone experiencing fever, it is crucial to seek medical attention promptly to manage symptoms and prevent complications.
