Mangaluru: A vibrant celebration of classical music and cultural heritage titled ‘Vasantha Sangeetotsava’ will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the air-conditioned Sujir C. V. Nayak Hall, Kudmul Ranga Rao Road, Kadri.

The musical event is being organised by the The Gowd Saraswat Brahman Seva Sangh in association with Sri Narayani Sangeeth Kala Kendra, which is affiliated to the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal.

The programme will bring together talented young artists who will present Hindustani classical vocal and instrumental performances, offering audiences a memorable evening of melody and tradition.

Musical tribute to the season of spring

The event has been curated to celebrate Vasantha Masa, the season of spring that symbolises renewal, creativity, and joy. In Indian culture, the season is traditionally associated with Vasantha Panchami, a festival dedicated to Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, learning, and the fine arts.

‘Vasantha Sangeetotsava’ has therefore been envisioned as a musical offering that captures the spirit of spring through classical ragas and soulful performances.

Young artists to present Hindustani vocal performances

The highlight of the evening will be Hindustani vocal music performances by talented young artists including Vidushi Nandita Pai, Vibha Nayak, Shantheri Kamath, and Vidushi Megha Pai.

Adding to the musical experience will be a Bansuri recital by P. Karthik Bhat, bringing the soothing tones of the classical flute to the stage.

The performers will be supported by accomplished accompanists including Shrivatsa Bhat and Rajesh Bhagwat on Tabla, and Medha Bhat and Hemanth Bhagwat on Harmonium.

A special feature of this year’s programme will be the presentation of unique Konkani compositions set to traditional Hindustani classical ragas, blending regional culture with classical music traditions.

Guest performance by Dr Kasturi Mohan Pai

The organisers have also announced that Dr Kasturi Mohan Pai, President of The Gowd Saraswat Brahman Seva Sangh, will grace the stage as a Guest Artist, adding further charm to the evening’s performances.

Supported by patrons of the arts

The cultural initiative is supported by several organisations that have extended sponsorship to promote classical music and young talent. Sponsors include **NKGSB Co-operative Bank, Ideal Ice Cream, Union Bank of India, School Book Company, and Bharath Group of Companies.

A legacy of community service

Founded in 1939, The Gowd Saraswat Brahman Seva Sangh has a long tradition of community service and cultural promotion. The organisation acquired its present property in 1962, and the Sujir C. V. Nayak Hall was constructed in 1967.

Over the decades, the Sangh has also undertaken several social initiatives including providing housing for LIG and MIG community members, educational assistance, free medical services, and the organisation of traditional Brahmopadesh programmes.

These initiatives continue to uphold the vision of the organisation’s founders while fostering cultural and community development.

Invitation to music lovers

Music enthusiasts, members of the community, and the public are warmly invited to attend ‘Vasantha Sangeetotsava’ and encourage the young artists who will perform during the evening.
