Mangaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has issued a strong statement condemning the recent allegations and narratives targeting Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, asserting that attempts to defame the revered religious center are part of a deeper anti-Hindu conspiracy.

Dharmasthala, located in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada, is home to the historic Sri Manjunatha Swamy Temple, a pilgrimage site attracting millions of devotees annually. Recognized for its commitment to spiritual, educational, and social upliftment, the temple has conducted thousands of religious initiatives and supported Akshara Dasoha (midday meals) and Annadana (food distribution).

VHP leaders Deepak Raj Gopal and Dr. MB Puranik emphasized that malicious efforts to malign Dharmasthala’s legacy, particularly through anonymous allegations of mass burials, are part of a larger scheme by anti-Hindu and international groups. These forces, they argue, aim to erode the foundation of Hindu faith by spreading misinformation on social media and global news platforms.

While continuing to demand justice for Soujanya, the 2012 murder victim whose case remains a source of anguish, the VHP has also stressed the need for a fair and thorough SIT probe—one that punishes the guilty but preserves the sanctity of Dharmasthala.

The VHP firmly stated:

“We support impartial justice. But we will resist any attempt to damage the honor of Hindu religious institutions.”

The VHP calls upon the Karnataka Government to ensure the investigation protects the integrity of Dharmasthala and to prosecute those spreading falsehoods to incite divisions within Sanatan Dharma.
