Vitla: A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at Vitla Police Station against a minor boy from Kerala for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl after befriending her through a mobile phone.
According to the complaint, the boy allegedly established contact with the girl over the phone and later called her to his residence, where the alleged incident took place on December 21, 2025.
Girl admitted to hospital in September
The matter came to light after the girl was admitted to a hospital on September 8 after reportedly developing health complications.
During a medical examination conducted on September 9, doctors reportedly found that the girl had given birth to a baby.
Following the medical findings, the matter was reported to the police, leading to registration of a case at Vitla Police Station.
Case registered under POCSO Act
Vitla Police have registered Zero FIR No. 01/2026 under Sections 4, 5(J)(ii), 5(L) and 6 of the POCSO Act and Section 64(2)(m) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The provisions invoked in the case relate to aggravated sexual offences involving a child. As the accused is also a minor, further proceedings will be governed by the provisions applicable to children in conflict with law.
Police have begun the process of verifying the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident and the subsequent events.
Case to be transferred to jurisdictional police
Police said the case will be transferred to the jurisdictional police station based on the location where the alleged incident occurred.
A Zero FIR allows a police complaint to be registered irrespective of the territorial jurisdiction of the police station. The case can subsequently be transferred to the police station having jurisdiction over the place where the alleged offence took place.
The police are expected to establish the precise location of the alleged incident as part of the investigation and transfer the case accordingly.
The identity of the minor girl and the accused has not been disclosed in accordance with legal provisions protecting the identities of children involved in POCSO cases.
The investigation will determine the circumstances of the alleged offence and establish the facts surrounding the case.
