Mangaluru: A 43-year-old wage labourer has been reported missing from Urvastore area after he could not be contacted by his family since the evening of February 17. A complaint has been lodged with the police, and efforts are under way to trace his whereabouts.
The missing person has been identified as Sakrappa Ningappa Walikar (43). According to the complaint filed by his younger brother, Sakrappa was residing in a rented house belonging to Satish at Sunkadakatte in Urvastore, along with his friends Thirthappa Kori, Basappa Kori and Pundalik Kori. He was working as a daily wage labourer in the city.
Last phone conversation at 5.45 pm
As per the complaint, Sakrappa spoke to his younger brother over mobile phone at around 5.45 pm on February 17, 2026. The conversation was reportedly normal, and there was no indication of any distress.
However, when the complainant tried calling him again at around 8 pm the same day, the phone was found switched off. Repeated attempts to contact him thereafter proved unsuccessful.
Concerned about his sudden unreachability, the complainant contacted Sakrappa’s roommates to inquire about his whereabouts.
Friends claim he left for work
According to the roommates, Sakrappa had told them that he would be going away for two days for night work. They reportedly informed the complainant that he had left the house stating he had work during the night and would return later.
Despite this explanation, the family grew anxious when Sakrappa failed to return or establish contact even after two days.
Relatives unaware of his whereabouts
The complainant subsequently contacted relatives and acquaintances to check if Sakrappa had visited them or informed anyone about his plans. However, none of the relatives had any information regarding his whereabouts.
With no communication and no trace of him for several days, the family approached the police and lodged a missing person complaint.
Police begin search
Police have registered a case of a missing person and initiated steps to trace Sakrappa Ningappa Walikar. His mobile phone details are being examined, and inquiries are being conducted with friends, neighbours and local contacts.
Authorities have appealed to the public to provide any information that may help locate him. Anyone with relevant details has been requested to contact the nearest police station.
The family members have expressed deep concern over his sudden disappearance and are hoping for his safe return at the earliest. Further investigation is under way.
