Mangaluru: On the occasion of Konkani Manyatha Divas 2026, the Young Catholic Students (YCS), Bendur, has organised a weekly subscription drive for Raknno, the official Konkani-English weekly newspaper of the Diocese of Mangalore.
Promoting Konkani through Raknno
The initiative aims to encourage the community to subscribe to Raknno while supporting efforts to preserve and promote the Konkani language.
According to the organisers, Raknno has been serving readers for 88 years and covers a wide range of subjects, including faith, news, health, stories and other content for readers of different age groups.
The weekly publication also plays a role in keeping the Konkani-speaking community connected while providing readers with news and content in Konkani and English.
YCS to facilitate subscriptions
As part of the drive, the YCS team will be available outside the church in the portico after every Mass on the dates mentioned in the subscription-drive poster. Community members can approach the team for subscription-related information and assistance.
The initiative is being conducted as part of the Konkani Manyatha Divas celebrations and seeks to strengthen community participation in preserving the language and supporting a long-running Konkani publication.
