After a short pause, the monsoon is set to regain strength along the Karnataka coast, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts from August 14 to 19. The forecast warns of heavy rainfall coupled with strong winds throughout the period.

On Wednesday, several parts of Dakshina Kannada, including Mangaluru, recorded moderate showers. The city’s maximum temperature was 26.9°C, while the minimum stood at 22.9°C, reflecting the cool, rain-soaked conditions.

Udupi district also witnessed moderate rainfall under overcast skies that persisted from morning. Showers were reported across multiple locations such as Padubidri, Kaup, Shirva, Katapadi, Udupi, Malpe, Brahmavar, Kota, Manipal, Hebri, Karkala, Kundapur, and Byndoor.

With the yellow alert in place, residents are advised to remain cautious, especially in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging and regions vulnerable to strong winds. Authorities are expected to monitor the situation closely and initiate necessary safety measures to minimise the impact of the heavy downpour.
