Mangaluru, March 8: Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) observed International Women’s Day at Yendurance Zone with the theme “Accelerate Action.” Organised by the Gender Sensitization Cell (GSC), the event highlighted the importance of gender equity and vigilance against cybercrime.

Key addresses and award ceremony

Mrs. Anusha welcomed the gathering, followed by Dr. Gladys R. Colaco, secretary of GSC, presenting the annual report for 2024-25.

Dr. Gangadhara Somayaji, Registrar of Yenepoya University, spoke on the need for gender equity. The Best Woman Employee Award was conferred upon Mrs. Seema Latha, Chief Librarian, Yenepoya Degree College.

Chief guest’s insights on cyber vigilance

Ms. Geetha Kulkarni, Assistant Commissioner of Police, CCRB, Mangaluru City, emphasised the importance of staying alert to cyber threats.

Dr. Leena K. C., Convener of GSC, presided over the program and stressed the need for gender equity for a more inclusive society.

Cultural performances reflect the theme

The event was attended by faculty coordinators, gender champions, and student representatives from various institutions under Yenepoya University. After the inaugural program, a series of cultural performances depicted the theme of gender equality. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.
