Mangaluru: The Eco Club of Yenepoya Nursing College, in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Committee, the Department of Community Health Nursing, and the Centre for Environmental Studies of Yenepoya Deemed to be University, observed World Environment Day on June 4, 2026, at the university’s Deralakatte campus.
The programme was organised under the theme “Green Fair – Millets and Organic Exhibition,” highlighting the importance of sustainable food practices, environmental conservation, and healthy lifestyles.

Exhibition showcases millets and organic products
As part of the event, a wide variety of millets and organic food products were displayed by two organic food product companies.
Participants were given an opportunity to learn about different types of millets, their nutritional value, and their role in promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental well-being.
The exhibition attracted students, faculty members, and visitors who explored the diverse range of products showcased during the programme.
Experts highlight health benefits of millets
Mr. Radhakrishna, proprietor of Nitya Products, addressed the participants and explained the different varieties of millets and the range of products derived from them.
He emphasised the importance of incorporating millets into daily diets due to their nutritional richness and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Sudarshan, proprietor of Gramarajya Products, spoke about the health benefits of millets and organic food consumption.
He highlighted how traditional grains can contribute to better health outcomes while supporting eco-friendly agricultural practices.
Programme receives positive response
The event was coordinated by Dr. Nithyashree and Dr. Benazeera, who facilitated the activities and interactions during the exhibition.
Organisers stated that the programme aimed to create awareness about environmentally sustainable food choices and encourage the adoption of healthier dietary habits.
Participants appreciated the initiative and provided positive feedback on the programme, noting that the exhibition offered valuable insights into the benefits of millets and organic products.
