Sanmit T (21) went missing after parking his scooter near the Gauri rivulet in Sarve on Friday night. Suspected of jumping into the rivulet, fire service personnel searched the area all day Saturday without finding any clues. Sanmit, son of Chandra Gowda from Kudmaru village, worked at the Mahindra Showroom near Mukrampadi Industrial Estate.

Sanmit’s Dio scooter was discovered 150 meters from the rivulet along with his mobile phone, wallet, helmet, and tiffin box. Typically, he took the bus to work but chose to ride his scooter on Friday, anticipating a late night at work. He informed his father he’d be home by 10 pm. When he hadn’t returned by 11 pm and didn’t answer calls, his father and a neighbor searched for him and found his scooter. They alerted the Sampya police.

Fire service personnel conducted an extensive search along the rivulet on July 21, covering nearly three kilometers with two boats but found no sign of Sanmit. Sanmit had recently returned to his hometown after working in Bengaluru and started a new job at Mukrampadi. He had previously suffered a severe head injury in a scooter accident and had been dealing with memory issues since.

Chandra Gowda mentioned that despite Sanmit’s recovery and good general health, he experienced memory problems post-accident. The family faces no financial difficulties. Chandra was supposed to accompany Sanmit to court in Mangaluru regarding the scooter’s insurance and had taken leave for this reason.
