Housing Rent Surge in Chamarajanagar: Urbanization Drives Prices Up

Housing Rent Surge In Chamarajanagar Urbanization And Demand Drive Prices Up

MYSURU: Housing rent in Chamarajanagar town has seen a significant surge over the past three years. A single-storey bedroom, previously available for Rs 3,000 per month, now costs double. Similarly, a two-bedroom house, which used to rent for Rs 6,000, now ranges between Rs 9,000 to Rs 12,000. In prime areas, rent has skyrocketed to Rs 18,000 per month, according to local real estate agents.

Rapid urbanization, industrial development, and migration for job and education opportunities are major factors contributing to the increase in housing rent prices. Rent also varies based on the area, development of layouts, basic facilities, and accessibility to educational institutions, banks, and hospitals. Areas close to government offices and main roads have seen the highest rent increases.

New layouts are emerging in places like Buddha Nagar, Siddhartha Nagar, Vivek Nagar, Karinanjapura, Channapuramole, Ramasamudra, and Santhemarahalli Road, yet housing rents continue to rise. The newly developed Badanaguppe Industrial Area has attracted people from neighboring Tamil Nadu and other regions, further increasing housing demand.

The Chamarajanagar-Ramasamudra Urban Development Authority has approved the construction of six private layouts in the last two years, but the demand for housing remains high, especially during the transfer season and school admission months from March to June. Moogashetty, a real estate agent, noted the persistent demand for houses in Chamarajanagar town.

Urban Development Authority chairperson Mahammad Asgar stated that the authority will soon decide on constructing new layouts, which is expected to ease housing problems in the area.
