Hemmeya Dubai Kannada Sangha (HDKS) Continues to Promote Kannada Culture in UAE

Dubai: The Hemmeya Dubai Kannada Sangha (HDKS) has consistently served as the voice for Kannada and Kannadigas in the UAE, actively engaging with issues and developments related to Kannada and Karnataka. The association has successfully organized various cultural and celebratory events, including Dasara Sports Meet, Kannada Rajyotsava, Multireligious Iftar program, Sankranthi, Christmas, and Republic Day Talent shows, fostering a sense of unity among Kannadigas in celebrating their culture and heritage.

Notably, HDKS honors National and International Sportspersons, Poets, Philanthropists, Cine & Music Artists, and Indian Defence Staff who have brought fame to Karnataka. The association is currently celebrating the 6th Dubai Dasara Sports & Cultural Festival 2023, encompassing a range of events such as Cricket, Antyakshari, Kannada Rasa Prashne, Rangoli & Gombe (Doll Display) Competition, Chess, Carom, Ludo, Badminton, Football, Volleyball, and Athletics.

The Dasara Cricket Cup Finals for Men and Women were held on November 19, showcasing exceptional cricketing skills. The final phase of the event, featuring Badminton, Football, Volleyball, Athletics, is scheduled for December 10, 2023, at Etisalat Academy, Dubai. The concluding ceremony will also include a Musical Extravaganza featuring Sandalwood singing stars Hemanth, Harshavardhan, Divya Ramachandra, and Rahul Dito.

One of the highlights of the event is the annual ‘Kreeda Ratna’ Award, a sports honor conferred by HDKS. The 2023 award will be presented to Arjuna Awardee Olympic para Athlete Ms. Malathi Krishnamurthy Holla and Indian Cricket Star Mr. Dodda Ganesh. The community is eagerly anticipating the final leg of the sporting event, the Kreeda Ratna Award ceremony, Medal Presentation, and the Grand Musical Night on December 10, 2023.

The event’s poster and T-shirts were unveiled on November 25, 2023, in the presence of the HDKS team, including President Madhu Davanagere, Vice President Hadiya Mandya, General Secretary Rafiqali Kodagu, and several other committee members.”
