Koppal: In a disturbing incident reported from Koppal in Karnataka, a married woman was allegedly raped, and her husband was beaten up by six men, according to the police, who confirmed that all the accused have been apprehended.

The arrests were made following a police complaint lodged by the victim herself.

The incident purportedly occurred at a park near a bus stop in Gangavati, Koppal district in Karnataka, on February 8.

Police stated that the victim and her husband were engaged in a quarrel at the bus stop over a domestic matter. As tensions escalated, the six men intervened and began assaulting the victim’s husband.

“They dragged the woman, assaulted her husband, and one of the accused, Lingaraja, raped her,” explained Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gangavati, Siddalingappa Gowda Patil.

“After the assault, the group verbally abused and allegedly harassed the victim,” the DCP added.

The suspects, identified as Lingaraja, Moula Hussain, Shivakumar Swamy, Prashanta, Mahesh, and Madesh, have all been apprehended by the police.

In Karnataka, in a similar incident that occurred a month ago, a group of men reportedly stormed into a lodge room in Hangal, located in Haveri district, and attacked a couple for the ‘offense’ of being together despite belonging to different faiths.

According to police reports, the woman later disclosed that she had been subjected to gang rape.
